Sadler-Prok family visit!

This weekend Sarah, Joe and Baby Thomas (just shy of his first birthday) came for a visit. Sarah was up in the area for a Rotary Conference, here at The Empress Hotel. She is the new president-elect of the South Tacoma Rotary Club and they sponsored her to come to the conference. yippee!! This was our first look at Little Thomas, what a cutie!

fun fun getaway ...

Yesterday we headed up to Mt Washington to play in the snow. It is the largest ski area on the island, about 3 hours north of here. We started off the day with a lesson in classic cross country skiing ... after a couple hours out we headed back to the lodge for a delicious salmon burger. We stayed right on the mountain so after lunch we went to the room for an afternoon nap (- ;

We awoke and headed to happy hour on the slopes!! from 5-6 you can inner tube all you want for $6.50 - woo hoo! it was snowing pretty good most of the evening, below is Page as we are getting ready to take the lift up to the top.

We went up and down 5-6 times ... every time was just as exhilarating as the first. Probably reaching speeds upwards of 40mph! We even videotaped our last run - sadly the blog doesn't accept movies, if you want a copy of our 30 second run - shoot an email to me. (=

Anyhoo ... we headed in after 6 for dinner in our room (we brought from home =) and watched a movie. We were up today -- ready for more fun in the snow.We headed out to snowshoe, the first time for both of us. It was very quiet on the mountain. Most of the time we were the only two around.

the audience requires more...

ahh my one devotee -- christy LOL .... you have requested more ... and i was just getting to it -- sigh the delay. )=

things continue to move along.... more info coming in from all directions.

here are some random tidbits of goings on.

final drawings were submitted to the city for the structural part of the reno ... last week. we will move forward on that part (demo deck, demo chimney, remove wall upstairs in bathroom, partial wall removed between kitchen and dining room, add on walk-in closet off queens bedroom, frame/finish walk-in closet itself -- and lastly gut the basement).

Plumbing and electrical permits are applied for separately and will happen in a couple months. Also in a few weeks i will submit additional drawings for the deck and the back sunroom and back porch supports (i am working on now).

Something exciting here in Victoria -- the city comes by twice a year to collect yard waste, leaves, etc from the street side - so yesterday i cut out a couple old vines that were in the back yard ... sadly placed in awful locations and not well cared for early on -- so transplanting not a real viable option. )=

The Victoria Independent Film & Video Festival was in town and we saw two very entertaining flicks, Colma & Air Guitar Nation -- both musical and comedic.

A little rat got into my engine compartment and chewed up my ground wire for my car alarm - woo woo woo woo woo .. LOL that was exciting-- fixed it.

i nearly forgot .. i started pulling up the hardwood in the back room only to find a disgusting brick design on parquet - oh my. can't imagine why someone would want to cover that up !!

so after all the hardwood is up -- i will tear up the parquet and see what condition the old Fir floors are in. (= fingers crossed.

Sprinkler system updates and Drainage system all complete and passed all applicable tests and inspections.

I am volunteering with a local community center -- visiting with a great womyn who hasn't had the opportunity to get out much the past several years. enjoying that so far ( just met her =)

Smudge and Tico enjoy time on the couch with their mamas, amidst all the projects -- much needed down time. They are settling into their new home quite well. Despite the occasional youngster visiting to scare them half to death -- they are all good. (=

Page is cruising right along on her fourth knitting project - a nifty little bag. she has taken to it quite well. And the boys LOVE her knitting needles!

that's all for now ... will update in a few (=

SURPRISE and Peek-A-Boo!

last night we went out to dinner and a show -- a rock show! it was a big surprise that Page pulled off :)
we went to Futaba, a great Japanese restaurant that is known for serving brown rice (instead of white) that made Page happy -- as sushi with "brown" rice is rarely offered. (=

after eating, we walked a couple blocks to the ????? (suspense suspense) arena. where the Toronto band, Barenaked Ladies, were set to play. HUGE line outside (as they have not been to Victoria in 10 years) we made our way in towards our seats located ?????? (suspense suspense) in row 1. yes front row tix ... Tomi Swick opened, a young fella who sounded a bit like Bono from U2. i got a chance to try out our new little digital camera and the show was alot of fun!

this morning ... smudge playing peek-a-boo!
